Hiroshima Bombing

August 6, 1945: Hiroshima Bombing

At 8:16 a.m. US bombers dropped an atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshim. The 20,000 TNT bomb immediately destroyed buildings, killed 90,000 people and injured 75,000 others.

Three days later, the US dropped another atomic bomb on the city of Nagasakti and caused a death toll of 70,000 people. Many victims of the atomic bomb continue to fall to this day because the fierce radioactive impact slowly kills the victims. The order to bomb the two cities in Japan was given by President Herry S. Truman with the aim of making Japan surrender in World War II.
