Treaty of Saint Germain

September 10, 1919; Treaty of Saint Germain

This was the signing of the Treaty of Saint Germain between the leading countries of World War I and the Emperor of Ausria. According to this treaty, the Austrian Empire was divided into three parts: Austria, Hungary and Czechoslovakia. Parts of Austria were also ceded to Italy, Yugoslavia, Russia, Poland and Romania.

In this treaty, it was also stated that the treaty between Austria and Germany, which had signed earlier, was canceled and Austria was prohibited from entering into any treaty with Germany. This was intended to prevent Austria and Germany from re-forming a great power.
